Since the liberation of Da Nang in 1975 to 1984, Han and Con markets were the two major trading centres of the city.  Now the commercial system of Da Nang comprises 6 general trading centres, 35 specialised and non-specialised supermarkets, 126 large-scale business units, 86 traditonal markets plus 27,000 specialised shops.

The city has called for domestic and foreign investors to build many international standard trading complexes including the Indochina Riverside Towers, the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Trading and Apartment Complex, and the Vinh Trung Plaza.  Da Nang is planning to build 21 general trading centres and supermarkets across the city.  They include the Vien Dong Meridian Towers; the Golden Square; the World Trade Centre Da Nang; the Da Phuoc Trading Centre; the Hung Vuong Supermarket; the trading and service complex at the site on Hung Vuong, Ngo Gia Tu, Le Duan and Trieu Nu Vuong streets in Hai Chau District; the Da Nang Shopping Centre in Thanh Khe District; the trading centre at the new railway station and the low-cost supermarket in Lien Chieu District; the Da Nang World Trade Centre in Son Tra District; Bac My An Supermarket and Ngu Hanh Son Trading Centre; Hoa Cam Trading Centre and Hoa Xuan Supermarket in Cam Le District.

The Nguyen Kim Night Market has been opened to meet the increasing demands of both locals and visitors.  In addition, some specialised streets for tourism, restaurant, hotel and entertainment services will be established in the near future.  They will include Nguyen Van Linh Street for financial services; Le Duan, Phan Chau Trinh and Hung Vuong streets for fashion products and souvenirs; and a specialised area for fine arts products at the Ngu Hanh Son Cultural and Historical Park.
