After three years of construction, the Da Nang Cancer Hospital was inaugurated for official operation on 19 January 2013.  It is the first medical establishment to give free medical services to needy cancer patients in Viet Nam. 

The 500-bed hospital cost over 1,500 billion VND to build, with the funds raised from domestic and foreign individuals and organisations.  It covers an area of 15ha in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Minh Ward.  10ha of this area is for examination and treatment facility.

Initially, Da Nang Cancer Hospital will have 200 beds on 21 wards, and 415 employees with 74 doctors.  These include a professor and an associate professor, seven who have doctorates and are second-grade specialists, and twenty-four who have master’s degrees and are first-grade specialists.  The number of beds and wards will increase to 500 and 27 respectively with about 600 – 700 staff members in the future.
